To Be Continued...and continued...and you get the point!

Ok, I'm STILL working on this baby blanket!

I have no idea how people speed crochet/knit. I think I am 'three-toed-sloth' slow on a good day! :) Just the other day, I took my 5 yr old to ballet, and as I play Temple Run (dangerously addictive) on my iPhone, there is an older woman sitting and crocheting her heart out. I think she was crocheting at warp speed..what the hell?!? By the time 45 minutes went by, this woman had crocheted half her project, I'm sure.  I would be too embarrassed to bring out my bag and get the 'Amateur'-stare, as I crochet like a kindergartner..LOL.

So far...here is my progress on the blanket :

Only 6 more pattern repeats to go!!! Woo-Hooo!!!! :) With classes starting back on Thursday, I really hope I can get this done in time....... I guess, Downton Abbey can help get me through! ***feeling like I'll make a great crochety old woman***

A Beloved Beginning...

Ok, so I created this blog simply to get an extra entry into those AWESOME free giveaways on One Pearl Button, but I figured since I have a blog now.....maybe I should actually use it to BLOG! Lovely idea, right?! My aspiration for this little mouse hole on the internet is that it will become a place to share creativity, yarn love, and just random coolness. No promises that it will be interesting at all, but we'll see where it leads! If all else fails, it can become a sort of e-diary of my creative alter.

So for this MOMENTOUS first post...( a little awkward, because I have the vague sense that I'm narrating to myself) I would like to share my current 'In Progress' project. Recently, I was invited to a baby shower for a so-called 'friend' (Reality of so-called friendship:  some one I haven't seen in over 5 years, only calls when she's looking for a job lead, and gave me a baby shower gift so I feel obligated to go!). Any-WHOOOO...I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to crochet a baby blanket! Why I'm putting this much love and time into someone I don't really care about can only be explained by an excruciating need to do some repetitive, mindless crocheting. :) My very first 'I-taught-myself-to-crochet' project was one of the Pound of Love yarn (I do not recommend the yarn, by the way!) patterns for a baby blanket. I was so bored by the end of the project, I haven't done a baby blanket since. So, this will be my second attempt at a baby blanket, and I'm actually hoping it turns out well! It's actually a very simple pattern by Bernat, and here is the link (Baby Coordinates - Sweet Baby Blanket) and a small photo:

Since my friend is having a boy, I'm using the Baby Coordinates Yarn in Soft Blue and Iced Mint.

Now, I just hope I can get it finished before the shower! :)
